Makalu (8463m) the fifth highest peaks in the world, which is situated north-east Nepal. There are different options to reach at Makalu base camp.

After Tumlingtar flight drive from until Num village by Jeep. From Num descend to Arun river, trekking route pass through many farms, rural village of Rai, Limbu, Bharman, Chettri and the Sherpa village at Num, Sinduwa, Tashi Gaoun. The last village is Tashi Gaoun after that village there are several small tea shops on the way to Makalu base camp, but these tea shops are not comfortable and not trustful.

During this trip if the weather allow, we can see an excellent Himalayas view of Makalu, Hongku chuli, different peaks above 60000 meters far view of Jannu Kumbakarna range and other many peaks. This is an adventure trek, we have to cross several passes above 4000 meters.

Same way to climb and same way to back is not so interesting, for the different view this trek will star from Tumlingtar and ending at Basantapur via Hatiya Gola, Milke Danda. At the spring season Milke Danda Gufa Pokhari region, where we can see many varieties and eight different colour rhododendron, which is full blossom.

Trip Itinerary with Makalu Base Camp.

Start from Tumlingtar end at Basantapur (detail itinerary):
Day 1       Kathmandu / Tumlingtar 35 minutes flight, from Tumlingtar drive until Num o/n camping at Num.
Day 2       Num to o/n camping at Seduwa
Day 3       Seduwa to o/n camping at Tashi gaon.
Day 4       Tashi Gaon to o/n camping at Kongma (1497 m. climb)
Day 5       Kongma to o/n camping at Dobate (Cross Khongma La 3873m, Ghungru La, Shipton La 4220 m, and Keke La 4152m. Four passes)
Day 6       Dobate to o/n camping at Yangri Kharka.
Day 7       Yangri Kharka to o/n camping at Langmale.
Day 8       Langmale to o/n camping at Makalu Base Camp.
Day 9       Explore Makalu glacier and back to same camp.
Day 10       Makalu base camp to same way back o/n camping at Yangri Kharka.
Day 11       Yangri Kharka to way to Hatiya Gola o/n camping at Khorlonge.
Day 12       Khorlonge to o/n camping at Takmar.
Day 13       Takmar to o/n camping at Saldim.
Day 14       Saldim to o/n camping at Hatiya village.
Day 15       Hatiya to o/n camping at Chepuwa.
Day 16       Chepuwa to o/n camping at Cyamtang village.
Day 17       Rest day or visit Kimathangka and back to same camp.
Day 18       Cyamtang to o/n camping at Thudom village.
Day 19       Thudom to o/n camping at below Thangla pass.
Day 20       Below Thangla pass to cross the pass o/n camping at Topke Gola.
Day 21       Topke Gola to o/n camping at Saju pokhari.
Day 22       Saju pokhari to o/n camping at Kalo pokhari.
Day 23       Kalo pokhari to o/n camping at Jaljale pokhari.
Day 24       Jaljale at pokhari to o/n campimh at Milke Danda.
Day 25       Milke Danda to o/n camping at Gufa pokhari.
Day 26       Gufa pokhari to o/n camping at Chouki.
Day 27       Chouki to o/n camping at Basantapur.
Day 28       Trekking end, drive Basantapur to Biratnagar and flight Biratnagar / Kathmandu or continue drive to Kathmandu.

Price For The Trip: The total cost for the trek or tour you decide you want to do will depend on several different factors. The type of accommodation you prefer in Kathmandu will make a difference to the overall cost (budget to 5 star accommodations). The mode of transport you prefer will also affect the cost of your package, for example prices vary greatly between flying versus private car/van, tourist or local buses.
