Presently, Langtang National Park is the world’s red panda conservation region. It is one of Nepal’s most important red panda habitats. The park is home to 46 species of animals. Including the elusive and endangered Red Panda and Snow Leopard and other wildlife. These endangered species are proof of the park’s healthy Himalayan environment just under their presence.
Red Panda Tracking Trek in Langtang National Park is a wildlife safari tour in the nearest national park to Kathmandu. Langtang National Park is the first mountainous national park in the central Himalayan highlands of Nepal. And the first national park in Nepal to save the Snow Leopard. The park is part of the Sacred Himalayan Landscape which is rich in flora and fauna. The park was established in 1970-71 AD to conserve the flora and fauna of the Langtang region. In fact, it is the second largest national park of Nepal with an area of 1710 sq. km. It covers 3 districts, including 7% of Nuwakot, 36% of Sindhupalchowk, and 57% of Rasuwa.
The red panda is the primary mammal we are looking for. For the same reason, we will be tracking the red panda trails in the Mangingoth, Mhera Gang, Pake, and Pangbu Danda areas. These red panda habitats lie in the Helambu region on the border of the Nuwakot and Sindhupalchowk districts of Langtang National Park.
We will also likely have encounters with many other incredible wildlife experiences such as those with the Himalayan tahr, wild boar, Ghoral, grey langur monkeys, Himalayan brown bears, Musk deer, etc. With over 300 different bird species identified in the area including the Danphe (Nepal’s national bird), Himalayan monal, satyr tragopan, the Impeyan pheasant, ibis bill, snow partridge, and red-horned pheasant, it is also a birder’s paradise.
Furthermore, get a glimpse of a different Hyolmo (Helambu Sherpa) culture that distinguishes them from other sherpas. Hyolmo people live mostly in the upper parts of Nuwakot and Sindhupalchowk districts in the Helambu region and in some other districts too. Helambu trek is a religiously, culturally, and naturally beautiful trek in Nepal. It ranks as the third choice for trekkers coming to Nepal. The trek lies in the first national park of Nepal, i.e. Langtang National Park. It’s close to the capital city Kathmandu.
The park is reachable within one day and there is a high possibility of spotting red panda in a short period with the assistance of local trackers and forest guardians.
